Production of aluminum in RUSAL in 2009 was lowered 3.9 million tons.

Temporary suspension of production takes place on such plants as Jamaican Alpart and Windalco, as well as Italian Euaralluminia. The volume of bauxite in 2009 amounted to 11.3 million tonnes, representing a decrease of 41%. The reduction is due to reduced demand for raw materials.
